Lactobacillus GG (LGG®)

What are probiotics?

Functional foods have attracted increasing interest around the world in the last decade. Probiotic dairy products are among the most successful. Probiotics can be defined as "Live microbial food supplements or dairy products containing bacteria that beneficially influence the health of the host and whose health benefits are documented in a scientific way."
Lactobacillus GG strain
Lactobacillus GG (LGG®) is a patented L. rhamnosus strain, which is deposited in the American Type Culture Collection, code ATCC 53103. The strain was isolated in the early 1980's in Boston, USA. Its commercial success is based on extensive scientific documentation of the health effects of the strain.
