Valio Baltics

Valio's Baltic story began in 1992 when a sales and marketing office was established in Estonia for Valio products made in Finland. Valio has exported fresh products to Lithuania since 1993 and set up a joint venture in Latvia in 2002. Valio Baltic Ltd was founded in 2006 to bring together all Valio's Baltic operations and now employs 353 people with total sales of EUR 85 million.
Valio Alma is the second most successful regional brand and produced at the company's Laeva dairy has a fresh products market share of around 30% in Estonia. The focus in Latvia and Lithuania lies more on value added concepts with key pan-baltic brands such as Valio Gefilus. Our cheeses account for 10% of the market in Estonia, dominated by Valio Atleet produced at the Võru Juust cheese plant. Valio Baltic exports to Russia, Sweden, Italy and Finland.

Local production at the Laeva dairy and Võru Juust cheese plant strengthens our image as a truly Estonian dairy company and supplier to Latvia and Lithuania. Investment in Estonian plants has totalled around 10 million euros over 3 years and during the current strategy review the possibility of further investment cannot be ignored.

Valio raw milk quality in Estonia is higher than average, which as in Finland has been achieved through cooperation and training. Growing together with our milk producers, we run advisory systems to support farms in attaining quality.
